About me

IMG_1659

I worked for many years in the care industry,

First as an Independence Tutor & then a Deputy Registered Manager after gaining my NVQ 2 & 3 in Health & Social Care,

Helping young individuals with special needs & learning difficulties to gain skills necessary for them to live as independently as possible.

It was great learning from & with the people I supported,

Enjoying the fact I was helping someone not just today, but hopefully long into their future.

Following the birth of my son in 2011 I felt that I needed a different challenge but one that would still make a positive difference,

this brings me to where I am today.

I acquiring my City & Guilds International Certificate to work as a Professional Massage Therapist through Grimsby Institute.

After seeing the effect that Lymphoedema and Cancer can have on peoples quality of life I felt I needed to help.

With this in mind I enrolled with the German Földi collage to learn Manual Lymphatic Drainage/Complete Decongestive Therapy. This therapy helps manage Lymphoedema which can be caused by Radiotherapy cancer treatment.

The training consisting of 190 teaching units, both theoretical and practical.

At the end of the training, there was an oral, written and practical exam.

I now treat & advise client with Primary & Secondary Lymphoedema,

using

Manual Lymphatic Drainage,

Compression therapy (bandaging & garments),

Exercise & Skin Care Advice.

I  have expanded my knowledge and skills by attended the Jennifer Young Oncology Massage course, offering massage to individuals living with & beyond cancer.

I hold a VTCT international level 3 qualification in Reflexology, from the Association of Reflexologists approved Infinity College.

I’m a full member of MLDUK, the British Lymphology Society (BLS) & Association Of Reflexologists (obtained only after completeing 100+ casestudies).

All additional training is

ABT (Associated Beauty Therapist), CTha (Complementary Therapists Association),

Or CMA (Complementary Medical Association) approved.

Thank you for reading & take care, Clare.
